Rihanna has become nothing short of a national treasure. As the ‘Work’ singer turns 30, we take a look at 4 reasons why we cannot get enough of our favourite fashionista and why that Rihanna reign just won’t let up.

The beautiful popstar has charmed the worlds of music, fashion and beauty alike and transformed from a singer into a mogul with her latest venture Fenty Beauty becoming a runaway hit with make-up lovers and fans alike.

1. She’s not afraid to take risks

Rihanna is the original queen of style. The singer has always taken risks when it comes to her unique style. With the help of her super stylists Jaheel Weaver and Mel Ottenberg, Rihanna rarely puts a fashion step wrong. Her interpretation of high fashion meets street wear is refreshing and her skills have earned her the slogan ‘it’s ugly until Rihanna says it isn’t’.

Rihanna’s fashion prowess was cemented when she landed her own line of clothing in collaboration with Puma and every single collection has been a sure-fire hit.

We love a risk taker especially when it always pays off!

2. She does not take herself too seriously

Rihanna is so refreshingly down to earth unlike a lot of celebrities. Having surrounded herself with a great team, Rihanna is always posting funny videos of her and her friends or sweet videos of her playing with her beloved cousin Majesty.

Whether it’s rapping along to her favourite, twerking for fun or making funny faces with her besties, Rihanna has always got a smile on her face and puts a smile on ours too.

3. She’s loyal to her day ones

Where Rihanna is, her best friend Melissa is not far off. Their relationship is known throughout the industry and Rihanna insists on having Melissa with her to keep her grounded and keep her company. Rihanna understands that the life she has chosen can often be a lonely one and it may be easy to slip into fake friendships so she makes sure she is surrounded by friends and family constantly.

Riri also makes a point to go home to Barbados regularly to visit her family and reminds herself of her roots. She tries to never miss a special occasion, birthday, funeral etc and was recently rewarded by having a street named after her in her hometown of Barbados.

How many people can boast of that?!

4. She’s a humanitarian

Rihanna is know for her humanitarian work both home and abroad. Having founded the ‘Clara Lionel Foundation’ after her Grandmother, she has also worked with charities including UNICEF and Live Earth.

Because of Rihanna’s work in her native island of Barbados and the charities she has founded over the years, the Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations honoured her with the 2017 Harvard Humanitarian of the Year award. Rihanna thanked the university for the honour and delivered an inspiring speech:

All you need to do is help one person, expecting nothing in return. To me, that is a humanitarian.” She added, “What that little girl watching those commercials didn’t know is that you don’t have to be rich to be a humanitarian, you don’t have to be rich to help somebody. You don’t have to be famous, you don’t even have to be college educated. But it starts with your neighbor… you just do whatever you can to help in any way that you can.
